چکیده
We consider a connection-level model proposed by Massoulié and Roberts for bandwidth sharing among file transfer flows in communication network. study weighted proportionally fair policies establish explicit-form bounds on the sum of expected numbers different routes heavy traffic. The are linear number critically loaded links network, they hold class phase-type file-size distributions; that is, heavy-traffic insensitive to distributions this class. Our approach is Lyapunov drift based, which from widely used diffusion approximation approach. A key technique we develop construct novel inner product state space, then allows us obtain multiplicative type state-space collapse steady state. Furthermore, result implies interchange limits as byproduct unweighted policy under distributions, demonstrating insensitivity stationary distribution.

Weighted fair bandwidth sharing using SCALE technique
Currently there is not enough work on the Internet weighted fair bandwidth sharing without per-flow management, especially when both UDP and TCP flows of different RTTs and different bandwidth targets coexist. This paper contains two contributions: 1) A mechanism called SCALE-WFS, Scalable Core with Aggregation Level labEling Weighted Fair bandwidth-Sharing, is presented to achieve near-optimal...
متن کاملQualitative Properties of Α-fair Policies in Bandwidth-sharing Networks
We consider a flow-level model of a network operating under an α-fair bandwidth sharing policy (with α > 0) proposed by Roberts and Massoulié (2000). This is a probabilistic model that captures the long-term aspects of bandwidth sharing between users or flows in a communication network. We study the transient properties as well as the steady-state distribution of the model. In particular, for α...

Abstract— In this paper, we propose a gateway algorithm supporting both weighted fairness and queue management. Though some algorithms are proposed for fairness with queue management in the literature, they do not concern about the flow weight. Our proposed algorithm classifies an incoming packet into a flow and drops it stochastically according to the queue length and the fair bandwidth share ...
متن کاملInsensitive Bandwidth Sharing in Data Networks
We represent a data network as a set of links shared by a dynamic number of competing flows. These flows are generated within sessions and correspond to the transfer of a random volume of data on a pre-defined network route. The evolution of the stochastic process describing the number of flows on all routes, which determines the performance of the data transfers, depends on how link capacity i...

In a shared server infrastructure, a scheduler controls how quantities of resources are shared over time in a fair manner across multiple, competing consumers. It should support wide (parallel) requests for variable-sized pool of resources, provide assurance of minimum resource allotment on demand, and give predictable assignments to plan their resource usage (e.g., advance reservations). Our a...
